Case example

Growth acceleration program for a leading Australian retailer BU

Context

  • A major retailer had set ambitious goals for its Own Brand BU growth and had designed a strategy to achieve them, with a number of projects identified to accelerate growth.

  • The execution of the strategy was however slowed down by limited resources in the BU team, and no ability to leverage corporate resources.

  • A BC Strategy team (Manager plus up to 3 Consultants) was engaged to accelerate the implementation of several strategic projects including category strategies, online channel growth, Health acceleration and International partnership.

Approach

  • BC Strategy offered a flexible team to best meet the client’s requirements:

    • A Manager, assessing and prioritising the various projects over the first few weeks of the engagement, then overseeing the overall program of work

    • A flexible team of up to 3 Consultants and Analysts allocated to the growth projects, delivering up to 3 projects in parallel

    • The team worked hand-in-hand with internal resources within the Own Brand BU and beyond (Product Innovation, Category Managers, Channel Teams, Finance, Customer Insights…) and engaged directly with Directors and Head of BUs

Outcome

  • A total of ~$100M of growth was accelerated through the project, allowing the BU to achieve its ambitious goals.
